Garbage pickup in Reinbeck is every Tuesday. Garbage must be placed on the curb by 7:00 A.M. Garbage must be placed in an orange biodegradable plastic garbage bag with the City of Reinbeck logo on it. These bags can be purchased at Truck's Country Foods at 606 Grundy Avenue. Special arrangements can be made to dispose of large items and large amounts of trash by calling Cooley Sanitation at 319-232-8511.
Newspapers, plastic, tin cans, and glass materials can be recycled and are picked up once a month in Reinbeck. The separated materials must be placed at the curbside. The second Tuesday of the month is pick up day for residents. The Reinbeck Recycling Center is located at 704 Grundy Avenue on Hwy 175 and Reinbeck residents can drop off their recycling materials at any time.
Reinbeck residents are welcome to drop off leaves, and yard waste at the compost site at 105 Commercial Street. No garbage or other items can be dropped off here. Surveillance cameras are installed for city monitoring of the site. This compost is available for free to Reinbeck residents. Reinbeck residents can also dispose of limbs or trees at the brush site at this same location. Again, no other materials such as building materials can be dropped off at the site. DNR does periodic inspections of the compost and brush site and can shut them down at any time if non-compliant items are found at the site.
