The Reinbeck Community Development Board’s mission is to inspire and empower our community to thrive through collaborative projects that drive sustainable growth and well-being. In line with their mission, the board intends to provide financial incentives to property owners and businesses to assist them in restoring and rehabilitating the storefronts of their property. Applicants must be business owners or property owners in the “downtown” area which includes Main Street, Broad Street, Blackhawk Street and Highway 175.
The primary objective of the Facade Improvement Grant is to revitalize properties in the Reinbeck, IA downtown area by preserving and restoring the existing building and storefronts.
Grant Guidelines:
- Grant opens on November 25th, 2025.
- The grant amount awarded can equal but not exceed 50% of the total project cost.
- For FY26, the total available grant funding is $6,300. Multiple projects may be granted from this FY26 funding with a minimum award of $500 for each grantee.
- Grant applications are due on January 26th, 2026. Applications will be accepted through the Google Form at https://forms.gle/oGY8VGKFxZWXdx7ZA or applications at Reinbeck City Hall, 414 Main Street, Reinbeck, IA 50669.
- The Reinbeck Community Development Board will carefully examine applications to determine which project(s) will have the most impact on the overall design and quality of the community and award dollars accordingly. Grantees will be contacted in February of 2026.
Application Guidelines:
- Applicants must submit a FY26 Facade Improvement Grant Application, along with the cost estimates from a contractor, detailing the work to be done. Applications will be accepted until January 26th, 2026.
- Work is expected to be completed and bills submitted to Reinbeck City Hall by May 30th, 2026. Proof of payment to contractor (copy of front & back of deposited check) required to be reimbursed for 50% of Facade Improvement Grant awarded project. A complete copy of bills from expenses relating to the project will be reviewed by the City Administrator before grant money will be awarded. The amount of grant awarded may be adjusted if the actual cost is lower than the estimated cost. A final inspection of the project by the Community Development Board may be conducted before any grant payment is issued. Any deviations from the approved application may disqualify the applicant.
- Recipient of any grant monies must be a current business or property owner. Businesses must be located near the “Main Street” area. This includes the 300-500 block of Main St as well as the 100-200 blocks of Broad and Blackhawk St. and along HWY 175.

- Signage & Awnings (addition, removal or replacement)
- Tuck Pointing
- Facade Cleaning
- Replacement of Transom Glass
- Window repair or replacement
- Replacement of architectural detail
Examples of Non-Preferred Projects:
- Roof Repairs
- Electrical work (except when related to signage)
- Interior improvements
- Installation of inappropriate materials
- Removal of aluminum ‘slipcovers’ (Aluminum siding, mansard roofs etc)
- Window Display (merchandising)
